I am easily overwhelmed
You regularly become overwhelmed by stimuli from your surroundings: work-related stress, your overflowing inbox, meetings, busy colleagues, urban noise, the sounds of traffic or neighbours, or crowds in stores or at parties. Socialising is fun, but can also be very exhausting. You need to regularly withdraw by yourself in order to recover, so you can face ‘the world’ again. If these patterns seem familiar to you, you might be classified as hypersensitive, or an HSP (highly sensitive person). This sensitivity can be both a blessing and a challenge. On the one hand, it provides rich, deep experiences, but on the other, it can leave you feeling overwhelmed and isolated. While you have a strong desire for connection and understanding, you may also struggle to find your place in a world that often seems far too intense.
In all, hypersensitivity can be quite a challenge. Fortunately, appropriate support and self-reflection can help you find a way to self-acceptance and deeper connection. Your gevoelszaken practitioner can support you in learning to use your hypersensitivity as a strength, and develop a harmonious relationship with yourself and your surroundings.
